This is the 1/6 scale vinyl figure of Lt. Worf by GEOmetric Designs. An eight piece kit, the part separations are so well done that the only putty work needed was joining the two legs together below the waist. Well, to be more accurate, two of the pieces forming the Bat'leth were not used so of course no puttying was needed there.
Being still very new to figure kits this was the first time I had to reproduce natural skin tones. While the fleshtones here are a bit on the red side, I'm still rather pleased with the results. The base coat was a 50/50 mix of Burnt Sienna and Panzer Shokoladenbraun. The wash and dark dry-brushing is the straight Panzer color. To finish it, highlights were dry-brushed with straight Burnt Sienna.
The hair was base coated with a 50/50 mix of Flat Black and the Panzer color. Highlights were dry-brushed with a lightened Panzer.
As for the uniform, the primary color is 2 parts Chrome Yellow, 2 parts Sandgelb, and 1 part Flat White. All of the colors named so far are all Model Master Acrylics. The Silver Chrome Trim, Steel, and Gold colors are all standard enamels.
As mentioned earlier, I didn't use the parts included in the kit for the Bat'leth. I didn't like the way they fit together. Instead I used them as a general pattern and made my own out of aluminum sheet stock. After an evening with the Dremel, a hobby sander, and some fine grit polishing cloths I had a nice looking weapon that was frankly a lot sharper than it looked.
To finish it off I had to cut an opening to bridge the hand so that it would look like it was being held. Again, I used the kit pieces as a pattern--cutting the opening a bit small and carefully enlarging it so that it would have a good tight fit.
The last step was creating the wraps on the three handholds. For this I took black electrical tape and cut 1/8" by 10" strips and literally wrapped two layers per handhold letting it overlap about 1/16". The two layers of wrap were needed to build up a padded look that would more closely match the mounting points in the hand.
